It takes only A FEW GOOD MEN and WOMEN to stand up against tyranny and open the eyes of the world, but may be most importantly, the eyes of American people, since this is the richest country in the world with the largest military budget that surpasses that of the entire world put together.

Of course not all Americans agree on the definition of tyrannical behavior and acts. Instead they tend to believe in tyranny based on who is labeled evil and who is not.

If American politicians or American corporatized media labels someone or a country as tyrannical or evil, then most Americans will assume that the actions of those labeled countries (or individuals) are evil, unjust, inhumane, cruel, and indecent. And therefore they deserve everything coming to them, including bombs, suffering, torture, poverty, and hunger.

If on the other hand, the country or the persons under question are not labeled as evil, then their actions, despite how evil or unjust, would not be regarded as tyrannical by most Americans.

An example of this is when Palestinians are labeled as terrorists for killing civilians out of sheer desperation but the Israeli government and military is not regarded as terrorists for causing the death of countless numbers of civilians – even when they kill young children.

See below, only a few examples of the humongous list of casualties caused by Israeli military:

An 8-year-old Palestinian boy was killed today when Israeli soldiers fired at crowds of children throwing stones as they returned from school in the West Bank city of Nablus… by: New York Times, November 2002

Palestinian boy, aged 7 playing near his home in Gaza Strip, is killed by gunfire from Israeli Tank – by: The Independent Newspaper in United Kingdom; March 2002

Israelis kill boy, aged 9, as army enters Gaza camp – by The Independent Newspaper in United Kingdom; March 2003

A 5-year-old Palestinian child is killed by Israeli artillery shelling – by: People’s Daily; April 2008

Israel helicopter gunship fires at crowds of protestors, many of them children, killing 10 and wounding many others – by: Washington Post, May 2004

Since 2004, in operations to arrest wanted persons in the West Bank,

Israeli forces have killed 35 innocent bystanders.

The Palestinians that use occupation, apartheid, and persecution as their reasons for taping suicide bombs around themselves is not convincing enough as an act of desperation and the result of injustice against them since 1948 occupation. At least, not convincing enough to most Americans.

However, the Israeli killing of civilians despite their enormous military (funded entirely by the American taxpayers), is regarded as an evidence of their desperation to fire artillery into crowds of unarmed protesting civilians and a display of a reluctant act of self-defense.

While corporatized American media has been depicting Israelis as exercising self-defense against ‘unprovoked’ acts of aggression by Palestinians (many of them children), they have been training American people into remaining silence and indifferent towards injustice and inhumanity. Only to come back and bite us and challenge the American ideals, right here at home.

What started as an Israeli bias from the media to blind American people to justice and humanity, evolved into an American mentality and tolerance for one-directional terror that has now chanced and unraveled the American moral fabric.

The result:

Violation of the American constitution by the Bush Administration
Prolonging and rendering ineffective the pursuit of real terrorists
Actions that impeded prompt elimination of terrorists that caused 9/11
Acts of torture by the American government and Blackwater corporation assassinations
CIA interrogation techniques and outsourcing torture to Syria and Egypt
Harsh treatment of Guantanamo prisoners that inherently produce false information
Destroying America’s reputation throughout the world for the unseen future

Many of these aspects have been discussed brilliantly, in detail, in a book I read recently. Thanks to CSPAN, and the Miami Book Review, I came across this book and it has opened my eyes and I am no longer part of the group of Americans who believe that good and evil is decided upon by the American government and the corporate media.

As an American, I will not tolerate, accept, nor support violation against the American constitution even if conducted by my government or the corporate media and they can no longer dictated to me on who is good and who is evil. I will decide on my own by listening to both sides and search for fairness and justice among the display of all grievances.

I highly recommend this eye-opening book by Jane Mayer, THE DARK SIDE: HOW THE WAR ON TERROR TURNED INTO A WAR ON AMERICAN IDEALS.

Excerpt From, THE DARK SIDE

… reveals secret report by the International Red Cross warned the Bush administration last year that the CIA’s treatment of prisoners categorically constituted torture and could make Bush administration officials who approved the torture methods guilty of war crimes … also reveals that the Bush administration ignored warnings from the CIA six years ago that up to a third of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay may have been imprisoned by mistake “.

Good has not died in America yet, thanks to brave individuals like Jane Mayer, who keep American ideals alive and stand up against tyranny in disguise. Keep up the good work you brave, brave, Americans. Make us all proud, once again, through American goodness rather than military preponderance.

It is always sad to read the that children have died in cross fire during war and even more sad that war is narrated as if it has no lasting effect on people's lives - but it does. People on both sides have died and still there is no end in sight, More >>

Unfortunately the Israeli crimes go unpunished because US supports Israel and tolerates crimes against Palestinian civilians. I found this a few days ago and it is very sad to think such a thing can happen. I do not think the American government really believes in decency but one way to prove it to me is to tell Israel to stop targeting and killing children and , More >>

Thanks Akhavan, that video is very disturbing. I got sick in my stomache. I also found another video where an Israeli soldier shoots a Palestinian protester for no reason whatsoever. You see the killing of a human being. It is just unbelieable that this can happen and American funds are supporting it and in many cases are paying for the bullets and the rifles, More >>

And United Nations does absolutely nothing - what a useless organization, always protecting the strong and the wealthy that pay its UN dues but never defend the ones that need defending, such as Suddan, Palestine, Ethiopia, Angola, and so many others.
